21 Days of Giving Thanks – Day 19

In an effort to emphasize the season of Thanksgiving, I’m celebrating it all through the month of November. Earlier I explained my 21 Days of Giving Thanks challenge (which you can read about here). Today let’s give thanks for God’s gifting to each of us abilities.

Day 19 – Give Thanks for Personal Talent

It may seem a bit arrogant to thank God for your own gifts, but that’s exactly what David did in Psalm 139:14.

I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.

David was not so much focused on himself as he was on the masterful hand of his Creator. And that is the attitude we should have, too. If you get to do something everyday that you love and enjoy and are good at, that is cause for giving thanks.

It is like the great Scottish missionary and olympic gold medalist Eric Liddell once said, “I believe God made me for a purpose, but he also made me fast! And when I run I feel his pleasure.”

Challenge: Thank God for creating you the way he has, with your unique gifts and abilities. Consider how you can serve others this Thanksgiving with your talents.
